Hello All

I just installed the pyxtools command line graphing program from the Ubuntu Software Centre as it adds extra features compared to gnuplot.

It brought an entire TeX installation (600Mb on disc, 300Mb download) with it.

I couldn't see any warning of what extra stuff was being downloaded. I realised what was happening as soon as I read the blurb about pyxplot in USC,

"PyXPlot aims to improve significantly upon the quality of Gnuplot's output, producing publication-quality figures. To this end, text is rendered with all of the beauty and flexibility of the LaTeX typesetting environment."

but not everyone will... and in some parts of the world a 300Mb download could take a long time and cost some money.

Is some kind of warning about dependencies in the planning? I can only find

https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/foundations-m-software-center-roadmap

which does not seem to mention this explicitly.

PS pyxtools is nice and I'm getting some lovely eps files out of it for notes I'm writing. No complaints.
