I have downloaded and tried to tar, sudo dpkg -i and every newbie guide i could google and I am still unable to get this on my system.

Any volunteers to walk me through installing this? Right now I have a .gz on my desktop laughing in my face...help me out please.

You need to unpack it first. Right click on the package and extract it. You need to tell us which kind of file you have downloaded. Does it contain the souce, is it dynamic or static, is it a script (sh) etc.

Okay, I appreciate your help first off. I have right clicked and extracted --here (to my desktop). I have now equake-linux-101b557 with subscript drwxr-xr-x beneath the title of the folder. I know this is the permissions of the folder. What should I do next?

A list of the files and folders in the extracted folder are:
bonuses
documentation
fbca
fbma
fuhquake
id1
qw
run
tools

files are:
changelog
fuhquake.svga
fuhquake.txt
fuhquake-gl-glx
gnu.txt
README (which I did)
servers.txt

Thanks.

Can you give me the link to file. Is the "run" file binary?

I guess you allready unpacked it :)
Just start quake by running fuhquake-svga (software version) or fuhquake-gl-glx (opengl version). You can even double-click both files in nautilus and quake will start. Just tried it.
That's it.

Thanks. For AI, they are all .txt documents as "RUN" is a folder. The files within are fbma, frogbots, glsw, glx, software, svga all .txt files.

Fng, I will click on it and give it a try.

Thanks both of you.
