Hello,

I hope I posted this in the right area. Looks like a showcase area, but I don't see much showcasing, more questions about software and whatnot.

I'm new to the ubuntu forums and wanted to share some of my art of a game (will be open source) I plan on making in the near future with Python (to start with anyway). The idea is to support Ubuntu and Linux with more quality games for the gamer. Hopefully I can fufill that criteria in a different, unique, retro way. If you remember the NES or 8-bit days, and enjoyed jRPGs like Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior, hopefully you'll enjoy what I am designing.

I use open source software such as GIMP to create all my pixel designs.

C&C is welcome. If this does not belong here, I sincerely apologise. I just wanted to introduce myself into this community through my artwork and project intentions which will (hopefully) open up as a new unique open source game for Linux.

Nice art and very realistic the use of a retro aproach to make the game, I like it, in the end the most important is the game history and replay factor

Looks sick man! Keep up the good work, and it looks like an interesting game.

That's pretty cool. I've had experience with pixel art before, but I'm not that good. I'm not very good at shading and the lineart, but I've improved... a bit. I'm looking forward to that game, though!

Agreed. I'd like to play this game if it gets made.

I'm glad to know I won't be the only one wanting to play it! :)

It seems that I will be taking the route of using wxPython (GUI) and PyGame libraries, seemingly these are both cross platform and widely used as far as Python libraries go.

@raymdt: Thanks! I'll be sure to contact you if I get stumped. Are you familiar with PyGame / wxPython per chance? Not asking for help right now, just curious if you have knowledge in these libraries. Also, not something I'm too familiar with, how are the networking libraries with Python? While an online version of this isn't my goal, I am still curious of its possibilities in the future when the project itself is complete. It also would be interesting to do a few small networking uses as a single player game anyway, such as high scores, medals, etc.

If there's any information regarding PyGame and wxPython I should know about, feel free to bring it to my attention. Or any free form advice is welcome. I just recently dived into these libraries and it seems they're more than enough for what I am seeking in this project. I hope I didn't overlook something though.

Again everyone, thanks!
