View Full Version : [ubuntu] USB Media Card Slot? Automount?

I've got a media card slot, and it shows up with the SD, CF, MS and SM slots in the computer browser, but they do not mount when I insert a card.

How to I enable auto-mount so that they mount when inserted and unmount when I "safely remove" or whatever.?

btw. I found this page: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Mount/USB and did what it said. I found that the media_automount and media_automount_open flags were both set. But the media is not mounted. And there is no "Open" action that works.

Of course they are FAT-32, but that's not a problem, right?

Oh, and I will want to share the drives too so when they mount they are shared with Samba. I have configured Samba and it's sharing the CD-ROM and my home folder, so that part is done.

Thanks,
Windy

Here's an update... The CF card slot works fine. A CF Card auto mounts with no problem
And while the device clearly loads an SD card, since it shows up in the it will not mount.

I had an OLD OLD [ 4MB can you believe it?] memory stick in an old camcorder and it mounts too.

So auto mount works, but not for the SD card.
Here's a link to my research on this problem. (http://www.windyweather.net/wp/2010/12/21/sd-media-card-wont-mount/)

Anybody got a clue why this is a problem??

Thanks,
