hello, i have always had problems with the sound on doom3, and i just installed quake4 and i have problems with sound to, on things like music or wine installed games im fine with sound.. but for linux native games i seem to be screwed, can anyone help? i get sound, but its all fuzzy and then theres some loud sound that is not part of the game..

btw: why is it quake4 seems to lag a bit, im guessing its the FPS, is there any way to turn it up?

you could try that "quake4 +set s_driver oss"

it might be faster afterwards

My quake 4 is a little laggy as well
I have
AMD 64bit 3200+
1.2 Gig DDR
3 Gig Swap
128 MB ATI 9600 Mobility :(

I think my whole problem is ati cause in windows it flies but on linux (which is all i have installed now SCREW MICRO$OFT) its a bit laggy but still playable. While ati is really trying their best to improve their drivers I just wish theyd get it right, RIGHT NOW so we who own an ati card arent sad because nvidia had better drivers. If it wasnt for this being a laptop the ati would be good

I'm no whale biologist, but past experience tells me THAT is definately the problem for you.
