View Full Version : [ubuntu] 9.04 won't start up

I've been running 9.04 for a while now with no problems until today. When I tried to boot up, it went to a black screen with a bunch of messages.

At the top:
Mounting local filesystems
Activating swapfileswap
.
.
.
.

At the bottom:
LibClamAVWarning: This version of the ClamAV engine is out of date.

This last message was repeated twice and nothing happened after that.

The only other thing I remember from yesterday is that I logged on to Windows 7 and there were a bunch of updates that needed done.

Thank you.

I was able to get into Recover mode and I tried file check and other stuff. Windows 7 loads with no problems.

As a side note, Ubuntu 9.04 is not supported any longer. It reached end of life in Oct 2010. It would be better to consider and upgrade to a current version or just do a fresh install.

well see if you can try to recover ubuntu from the recovery console. if so then ur good. but understand that you will lose files...

I got into Recovery mode and tried the various options (clean, dpkg, fsck) and they didn't seem to work.
