For anybody who celebrates holidays this month (whether it is over, or right around the corner), what do (did) you hope to get this year?! ;)

I'm hoping for a Netbook, though I have very little hope of getting anything like that. In part because we finally got a Nikon DSLR and my wife is going through sticker-shock!

How about you?

I want the Humble Indie Bundle #2 (http://www.humblebundle.com/) that cost $2,000. :) And of course MY name registered on the top of that list.

The best Christmas gift EVER.

Holy Crap! 400 MPH R/C Jet!?! I want one, but I want it big enough to fit ME (or maybe at least some small children I want to terrorize)!

Would really suck if your controller's batteries died and it just kept going... and going ... and going... Or it just few outside of your controller's range (try chasing THAT in your car!)

Hahahaha! I've seen that happen with a standard R/C plane, I could just imagine the 'pilots' face as his expensive 400mph jet turns into a tiny dot on the horizon! :lolflag:

My missus and I come up with stupid impossible presents for our own amusement, on her list at the moment is a gold hat so heavy its impossible to wear!

B-b-b-but it's GOLD!!

Now it would be even cooler if it is a solid gold Ubuntu baseball cap!

How about a ride like THIS? It may not be as high as what Mark Shuttlworth went but looks pretty incredible!

An AT-AT. Could be quite handy in some of the weather we've been having, too.

Not to mention, makes the morning commute a LOT easier.. Traffic Jams? Just step on 'em! Low Bridges? Just blow them up with head cannons! Parking? Anywhere you want to!

An Ethernet card for my old laptop and some vouchers to buy some CDs would be great. :D

But if anyone DOES have an AT-AT they don't need...

I celebrate Christmas, but I bought my own gift early. I got a mini-computer with HDMI and a 2TB external hard drive that I'm ripping all of my DVDs to. Pretty awesome.

I will buy myself Arduino.

Worked with FEZ board at my job, which is C# & Windows only derivative of Arduino. But I want to do some stuff during my free time on my Linux computer at home.

Since I've lost 15Kg since I left hospital it would be nice to have some clothes that fit me and not look like I picked them off the rail at the local charity shop! Those are things I need

What I really want is a 4 inch Android tablet.

The chance of getting either are slim until I go to London in January and get let loose in Marks & Sparks!

All I want is no further bad news. Between hearing about a death in the family two days ago, along with the news of another cancer patient in the family, along with declining health in another cancer patient in the family among a few other upsetting situations, I really just don't want to hear any more bad news.

Geez, I haven't even THOUGHT about Christmas shopping yet. This season is turning out to be a bummer for me. :/

Strength to you! Bad situations like that make you put trivial stuff like computer hardware and gadgets in perspective.

Peace and goodwill unto mankind, an end to the age of nuclear weapons, leadership that understands and applies science, skepticism and reason in every country.

Aside that:

1) A Perm. residency VISA for Brazil
2) Plane tickets to go to Brazil via Amsterdam after Feb. 11th
3) A successful GNOME+Mono hackfest following FOSDEM 2011

In terms of mere mortal goods, a Nexus S to replace my utter crap N900 and anything from my Amazon wishlist really.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/wishlist/1CPQ09P9XLEA1

That being said, I will settle for a cup of hot chocolate and a nice time with my family before I move to Brazil. I know I won't get to see them much after that on account of the cost of travelling.

Hello All

At 52 deg 30min lat, 1 deg 55 min west long we had 5 inches of snow today.

Traffic in town centre log-jammed, cars and buses in big lines sliding all over. Spontaneous collective action to help people keep moving, and to tell people which buses running and what roads clear. Children organising huge snowball fights, and building snowmen, on the car parks. Groups round coffee stalls having conversations.

I'd like more of that for Christmas

Sort of Open Source Life.

I bought an Arduino mega, and I love it. I don't have much to use it with, but the ATmega's are an awesome line of micro-controllers.

Another to look at would be the Maple. (http://leaflabs.com/devices/maple/)

I think I have an ethernet PCMCIA card lying about, if that is what you are looking for pm me and I would be happy to give it to you.

Thanks a lot, but it isn't worth sending from Brazil to England.

Pandoras are brilliant, I would really like one too, but they are having real trouble with the shipping lately. :(
