I'm having a frustrating time with the Canon iR 3230 printer in my workplace.

I have attempted the new printer installation routine with the System/Administration/Printing menu in just about every conceivable combination. I have tried downloading Canon-imageRunner_3225-pxlmono.ppd (since the 3230 seems to be in the same family as the 3235). Each time I get the following results:
The printer is detected on the network.
When I print a test page (or a different document of my choosing):
1. the progress bar shows that the document is being processed
2. checking the "Document Print Status" shows that the document is being processed
3. then I get a message box that tells me that the document has been sent to the printer for printing.
But the printer does nothing at all.

In case it is of interest or importance:
Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 LTS
AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-72 processor

Thanks for any help!!
