I'm using the Simple Backup Suite (sbackup) tool to backup files from my laptop (Dell circa 2008 with Ubuntu 10.10) to another computer. The full backup takes quite a while. I have the power-management settings set to suspend after an hour and hibernate after two hours. I believe, but am not certain, that the power-management suspension and hibernation settings kick in even if backup program is still running, which of course terminates it. Am I imagining that? If not, is there a setting to ensure that the suspend and hibernate settings don't kick in while the backup program is running? Thanks.

I know this is a old post, but I'm having the same problem.

Backing up my Win7 machine to my Ubuntu 11.04 machine.

Ubuntu machine goes into hibernation while backing up.

How do we prevent Ubuntu from hibernating during a backup, and how do we allow it to hibernate when backup is done, or disk activity is minimal.
