On my desktop PC I have a netgear wireless pci card...

05:05.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. Atheros AR5001X+ Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01)
Subsystem: Netgear Device 5a00
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 168, IRQ 17
Memory at ebef0000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K]
Capabilities: <access denied>
Kernel driver in use: ath5k
Kernel modules: ath5k

Up to now its been great, as in reliable, but very recently it frequently drops the connection to the router. On one particular session it kept losing the router every couple of minutes and had me in a hissy fit... well almost!

I have two other computers on the go one windows and the other a netbook running ubuntu with no connection problems at all. So this must rule out a problem with my wireless router. And whether its just me online or I am sharing the connection with others in the house it happens.

I'm not necessarily looking for a solution but for help on how I go about finding out what the problem is with my wireless card and how I interrogate my connection to find out why this is happening.

Many thanks for any contributions or help
Gus
