I have found the dpkg -i method hasn't been the best method since dpkg doesn't resolve deps and that seems to be a problem and I also have no idea howto make those big blue ncurses menu so would you rather just have a really fancy .sh once command install sorta method or stick with the .deb and dpkg method? If anyone knows how I can make those big blue menu thingys let me know because I actually would rather stick with them then making a .sh script since edventually when its stable I hope to get it into the respository.

Maybe you could write up a installation script with perl/php/python/ruby/<whatever> + ncurses.

Actually, this post is a little out-dated. The next release will use the installer from Ampache for the web based script, and a simple shell script that detects OS, downloads proper packages and moves the Hive files to where they need to go and probably with the help of ncurses.
