Decided to go ahead and use some more HD space and test drive this Natty 11.04 for awhile. I am rather adventurous it seems, anyway I did the advanced install but I would not say it is intuitive. Need to get Compiz going and see what all I can break!!! i will try not to drive you advanced users crazy..

My thoughts are if I can get this baby running anyone can,, :D

Heh, I decided to go ahead and overwrite my root partition with Alpha 1. I now have some trouble convincing my netbook to boot, but once booted, it's quite nice. The updated Firefox and KDE look nice so far.

I also installed alpha on netbook (eeepc 1005p), it booted very well from live usb, but once installed the display did not work, or actually worked every 5th or 6th boot, don't even know where the issue was, the sound of gdm was there but display did not show anything. also the slpash boot /plymouth screen was distorted (too big letters) when it appeared. again on live usb it was working flawless. looking forward to fixes, it was really great from live usb, compiz based effects worked etc
cheers to everyone, natty is indeed most anticipated release in long time

You are more than likely affected by bug #683775

I put a launch pictograph on my desktop to "gnome-panel --replace" which sorted my lack of panels and no alt-f2 function. It gives me panels and unity every time they don't launch themselves.

Thanks for the tip. It appears that this is my problem as well.
