Hi all,

I am considering buying an A3 printer for general use and A3 graphics printing, so far I run into these two models but there is not much info on whether they will work in Ubuntu.

Canon iX4000

HP OfficeJet 7000

Would you have any experience with those models in Ubuntu, any advice? Could you recommend something else? Should I better avoid any of these brands?

I'm in the same situation and would be happy to hear any information you got on this.

I'd like support for this..
Ubuntu 10.04
Borderless printing
Ethernet
Double sided printing (not a must)

Thanks!

Well,A3 photo printer review was carried out with ease because we have found some practical tools we can use for printing and to our own editing tasks. First, there is a 2.4-inch color LCD display you can inspect each reproduction photo before giving the final go print jobs.

I've been recommended Brother printers.. These are multifunction though and I'd rather have a better printer-only machine than pay for the other functions. But I might go for this anyway if it prints borderless A3 on Ubuntu, I'm not sure of this yet.

I'm thinking about the cheapest one (MFC-5890CN) as I don't need wireless nework, it does have ethernet. It doesn't come with a touchscreen, can't print booklets and only has 150 papers magazine. The MFC-6890CDW has automatic duplex printing.

What do you think about those printers?

I've been recommended Brother printers.
Thanks for the tip, does it mean these should work safely in Ubuntu? The preview display seems nice - it might make it easier I guess. Interestingly no one sells the cheapest model here in Czech Rep.

BTW don't you know how the network printing works? Is it same as using USB or maybe more similar to just sending a .pdf to the printer? The HP OfficeJet 7000 does have LAN also

edit:
MFC-6490CW should work it seems: http://ubuntu-virginia.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9053425
Brother has at least some support: http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public_s/id/linux/en/index.html
