I am adding it as I type this. Just came here to see if a dedicated Xubuntu forums exists around here, but it looks like there is none yet.

I think there's going to be a dedicated Xubuntu forum when Dapper is released (because then Xubuntu will be a real distro).

I must admit, there seems to be an awful lot of people on here using Xu.

hi, ladislav, i love your site  but i don't read it very much because i listen to the podcast more. is there anyway you would be prepared to put a link to the new podcast site? or make it abit more noticeable if it is there somewhere, thanks.

i hope you see this :-|

Username is "ubuntu" with no quotes and no password.

Dedicated Xubuntu user here, on dapper, with full compositor going, and it rocks....Have discovered that it is already capable of almost everything compiz can do, and isn't half as buggy, and only requires one modification to the xorg file.

Thank you briguyd :)

Would've been good to include that in the release notes since the other LiveCDs usually skip the login.

Can I see some screenshots of XUbuntu please?

I believe there are screenshots in the various reviews I've seen of Xubuntu,

for instance here
http://gnuman.com/distros/xubuntu_6.06_beta_review.html

but if you really want a good look and feel of it, why not download and run the live cd, it's not too big and runs like a charm (basically the whole philosophy behind xubuntu)

I've taken a look at the beta live-cd and I must say, I'm impressed, I'm currently running Kubuntu because I have a relatively new computer, but for anyone with an older computer this is definitively a good way to go. I would really recommend xubuntu over any older version of windows when running a less powerfull computer

Edit: Just found out that OSDir has screenshots as well
you can find them here

I have to agree with treris, i tried liveCD of xUbuntu and... I was impressed. It is very fast. I enjoy this liveCD very muche. I'm looking forward for final install verion :) I'll try it for sure. Well... well.. well.. so something optimized for i383 can be fast :)

It will hit distrowatch when it can automatically mount my damn DVD/CD-RW!

Why have they made it look like a second rate gnome? xfce is much better than that.
