Hey, I currently have a decent netbook, gateway lt31, but as far as linux compatability, it required a lot of hacking to get it to work (bios editing + re-flashing, drilling holes for cooling ect) and it is still not fully supported. (ATI video laggy, random freezing). I would be willing to purchase a new netbook but I want some feedback first.

The requirements:
11-12" screen with 1366x768 res, this is the most important feature
nvidia graphics
HDMI or DVI output
at least 2 GB of ram

The only one I found so far is the alienware M11X, but the thread on it here seems to have mixed reviews. I also don't like the fact I have to purchase a windows license but that is true for almost any prebuilt computer.

Are there any other suggestions?

It appears the dedicated nvidia card in the current m11x is not working in linux, so that one is out for now.

Does it have to be a netbook? Because lately as i see they aren't much cheaper than notebooks. in fact the manufacturers totally missed the point of having cheap, low cost, low spec small notebook that would eventually cost less than 200USD. i mean here soem netbooks cost well over 400 EUR.
