Hi all - I hope someone can help.

I have a QNAP NAS which has an ext3 formatted drive. My NAS has failed so I've but the drive into a USB caddy and booted into Ubuntu to try and salvage all my data.

I can see all the folders and most of the files except for any larger files. The folders just show as empty. I have a lot of movies on the drive in seperate folders. I can see the folders and even the cover .jpg file but not the actual video file. This is the same in the DVD folders where I cannot see the VOB's.

Does anyone know why this would be? I would really like to be able to see the files so I can move them elsewhere!

Thanks

Could this be down to permissions that were set on the QNAP? I doubt it as if that were the case, I wouldn't see ANY files.

Any assistance gratefully appreciated!

Just for anyone else who is having this problem.

I managed to fix this problem by downloading the QNAP Live CD and booting into this - http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?f=144&t=11860
