After re-installing windows xp and buying the software and installing "Computrace" on my laptop, I soon found no use for it having to deal with viruses. After downloading Ubuntu and trying to install it to the hard drive "Yes by, erase and use entire drive" I found traces of "Computrace" in the BIOS. Is it possible to get rid of this? or completely removing it from the laptop using the terminal or otherwise?

You'll have to take it to a licensed dealer. Answers here could be used by thieves to remove the software, which makes it a violation of the forums CoC. (http://ubuntuforums.org/index.php?page=policy)
