10.04 cannot update

I get the message, that the resource below is locked. And I cannot update a fresh install of 10.04. Any Suggestions?

Do you have synaptic open? If so, try closing it and rerunning apt-get. Otherwise, open a terminal and do the following.


sudo dpkg --configure -a

And try a reboot if all else fails.

I have lost my WIFI connection and think this might be linked. So I continue this query from:

I am not able to test the update command due to no connectivity.
