Okay so after giving up on how to setup a stream via terminal (by SSH-ing into my box) I decided to just open a SFTP connection in my filebrowser.
So just to be sure, VLC streams the file from the host and plays while it obtains the stream yes? I saw "buffering" text by where the video time is when it first started to load but I cant see how much it has cached!!!! I need to know as the internet connection here is terrable and I would rather buffer for a while than have it cut out! Add-on? option?
I know a few of you will tell me to set it up right but x11 forwarding is waaay too slow on this connection during the hours I want to stream and my vncserver crashes when I open vlc. So ssh via terminal is the only other answer.
