wirelss working, won't connect / can't acquire IP address

New Ubuntu user... wireless card is active and apparently working; however, when trying to connect to the wireless, it gets stuck as 'acquiring IP' address.

I don't know if I have it configured correctly, on Windows, when I try to connect, I'd get a pop-up asking for the WEP security key and off it would go.

I'm not exactly sure where that info would go or what else I'll need to input to make this work.

Any ideas?

If more info is required, let me know and I'll run commands.

Sounds like a dhcp issue. Try see what happens from command line, I through out a couple example commands here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1632055).

got it working... rather, my sister's tech-savvy friend got it working.. so i have no idea what he did -

aside from having it disconnected from the ethernet cable.
