How do you apply patches/updates to games that require wine or cedega to run?

I'm trying to update C & C: Generals to 1.07 or 1.08, but the patch keeps failing when I try to run it with either wine or cedega. It gives me an invalid registry error.

The only idea I can think of is unfortunatly copying the files from a windows installation and just pasting them over yours. Damn windows.....

Updates very often don't work on Wine or Cedega. If you want updates, then you must find a kind soul, who has posted details on their blog or on a forum like this one.

The whole idea behind Wine or Cedega is that some hard-working user has already figured out a tweak to get their favorite game working on their favorite distribution with Wine, and has decided to share the knowledge with the ignorant.

There is nothing special about Cedega. It just incorporates the tweaks that are already freely available to the wide world. Cedega makes your life a little easier by implementing many of the freely available tweaks for you.

If someone hasn't posted any info about updating, then the information doesn't exist, until someone decides to share the info with the rest of us.
