I have a quad core 2.5 GHZ Ubuntu Server (64) and want to run software RAID 5, but I need a SATA card to give me the right number of ports. (5) My motherboad only has four ports two of which are taken.

I am looking at one (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816117157) of these or two (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816104006&cm_re=koutech_pci_raid_card-_-16-104-006-_-Product) of these.

Does anyone have any experience with either card? Which would give better speed when using software RAID? Any better suggestions for cards?

I am worried about saturating the PCI bus if I have two of Koutech cards.

What kind of read/write speeds can I expect with this CPU? I can't seem to find any good examples.

Thanks,

I think I will go with the PCI Epress version with 5 2 TB drives. One of the reviews had good speeds in Linux.
