Notification sound 10.10

Hello, would someone help please, Have just gone on to 10.10 and cannot get a notification sound for a new email. I am using Thunderbird and have set it up in preferences. All other sounds work fine.
Is a simple fix possible? as using the terminal for large screeds is a little daunting for me. Regards john.

Hi, I have a sound file for new mail in Thunderbird, I seem to think it only worked when I used a .wav file

Hello, thanks for that, it is a WAV I am trying to use.
For the moment I have reverted to 10.04 as 10.10 also has problems importing Photos from my camera, using gthumb.
