View Full Version : [ubuntu] Ubuntu 10.10 EEE 1005HAB - turning wireless on-off

I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 on an Asus EEE PC 1005HAB.

I can't get the wireless function to turn on and off using the Fn-F2 keys when running Ubuntu, although it works fine when running Windows 7. So it doesn't seem to be a hardware problem. The other Fn keys, eg Fn-F5 to dim the screen and F12 to increase volume all work in Ubuntu, but not the wireless on/off.

I want to be able to turn wireless off when I'm working on the battery to increase battery life.

I had a terrible time getting Skype to recognize and use the internal microphone but finally got it to work by removing PulseAudio and installing a Gnome mixer and then re-installing PulseAudio. I have no idea what I did and why it worked, but it does.

If anyone can help I'd appreciate it. I'm a complete linux newbie so please be very specific with any tips.
