On this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1092455&highlight=google+docs) there was quite the collection of applications that allowed the mounting of Google Docs on Ubuntu. I think taking advantage of the open Ubuntu One client-side software, we can use this framework to do what Ubuntu One does, and sync all our files with Google Docs.

What do you guys think? I would like to post a Brainstorm idea with your opinion.

Is somewhat appealing...
I do use GoogleDocs for collaborative work, but I'm not sure that it would be possible to have this as default... What if Goggle changes their system? Canonical / Ubuntu would have no control over the outcome, resulting in lots of upset customers.

Well, I was not suggesting replacement of the whole Ubuntu One system as such, but just using the framework on the client side - Ubuntu One is a commercial venture after all.

A community developed hack for a plug-in would be fantastic. Similarly, OOo plugins for Google Docs collaborative works would be the solution to your issue.

Replacing the entire Ubuntu One system for Google Docs would require a hand of Google and Canonical. If this does occur, I daresay, there will be some sort of deal for profiting by Canonical, since, as I mentioned earlier, it's a for-profit project.

I call your attention to this idea again.

I agree, that would be awesome; integrated support for sharing via Google docs, seeing shared docs in Ubuntu one folder, free up Ubuntu one space by pushing docs to Google. Choices is what OSS is all about

Google Docs is proprietary and U1 is only half-OSS.

That is true, but with U1 client-side being OSS, we can decide where to send them. Heck, we could even rent a server, and make it a personal backup storage using the U1 framework.
