Hey, I am a brand new ubuntu and I am trying to triple boot ubuntu on my macBook Pro. I have installed rEFIt. When I boot, three CD's come up
1. boot/efi/... from (nothing is listed)
2. Boot linux from CD
3. Boot legacy os from (nothing is listed)

if I choose number 1 I get a black screen with 3 options (install..., check Disc, try without...) when I choose any one of these, I get a completely black screen w/ no anything just... black screen

when I pick options 2 or three all goes well, I get the GUI interface, but when I press install... or try... I get a command line giving me hundreds of I/0 errors and squashfs errors, then, at about 400.whatever it stops and i have to force shut down.

Hi neww, welcome to Ubuntu!

Try taking a look at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MactelSupportTeam/AppleIntelInstallation and follow the directions for the appropriate set up that you are trying to use. Make sure you're taking backups of your data before you do any of this! It's very easy to overwrite the wrong partition.
