I was wondering if anyone here is running cs source? I have wine 9.12 and have Steam installed. The game is updated but i go to launch it and alls i get is the background. The loading screen in the bottom right corner comes up but then goes away as if its done loading, then nothing else happens.

I'm running it in Cedega here; working fine for me. I haven't tried it with just wine though.

Did you follow the howto on the CS:S appdb page?

i installed css with the tutorial found on these forums, the game started up and i could access all the options and settings fine(was turning them all down) and when i got into a game, my **** would lag out and i couldn't play it reminded me of the days when i tried to play cs 1.5 on a dailup connection but even worse, i know its not the internet it has to be something with wine, wine is definatley not the choice program to run css with because im sure it will lag out with you as well, unless someone can help me out with that then you should try out cedega, but isn't that like 5 bucks a month ?

Could you give me some informations about the FPS on Ubuntu and with the same settings on Windows (for example in stress test)? Thanks!

I for one get almost triple the FPS playing CS:S on higher settings in Windows then I did playing it under Cedega. For that reason I still keep my system dual-boot so I can game on Windows with games that are native to it.

Yes Cedega is like 5 $ a month, great opensource huh. Unfortunately i cannot boot windows on my pc, for some reason it overheats when getting into graphical intense areas, even tho i have perfect ventilation, for example playing WoW. But I have heard that Wine offers just as much suppport , if not better, then Cedega, so I dont feel the need.

Actually, cedega isn't open source - it's built from very early versions of wine/wineX that were under the BSD license :)
