Ive been trying to install ubuntu on my macbook pro for days but it wont work, im trying using rEFIT and its great until it starts the install process and then it crashes. My hardrive is also getting tons of partitions that i cant delete using diskutil and its starting to bug me, somebody told me that i should use gparted to delete the partitions but whenever i try to launch it from the livecd it immediately crashes

Any help would be appreciated

I don't know about 10.10, but 10.04 needs a patched kernel to work with your type of MacBook.

10.10 has the required kernel patch. The stock 10.10 install image works fine on the MBP 7,1.
