Hi,
I've been trying to use my laptop with the ATI Radeon Mobility X1400 graphics card up to my 26" Samsung LCD via SVGA. The greatest resolution I can get on it is 1024x768, and when I uncheck 'Same image on all monitors' under the 'Monitors' screen (Under System > Preferences > Monitors) the greatest resolution is then 1360x768. This is the only 16:9 option. This, however, does not work properly as it cuts off the task bars at the top and bottom of the monitor.
I have looked for problems people have had with the same graphics card, and those with different graphics cards but the same problem - The solution seems to be to install the proprietary driver. However, my graphics card is apparently not supported (according to http://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/catalyst_104_linux.pdf, which is given as a link from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI.)

Is there any way I can get hold of the proprietary driver for my graphics card, and if so, how?

Thanks very much in advance,
Lewys
