Searched around the forums and googled, but couldn't find an answer to this question:
Since upgrading to 10.10 on my laptop, I've had a few hiccups with X server compatibility with the new kernel. A few weeks after the release, Stefan Glasen's ppa repository updated the 'intel-driver' and '855gm-fix' packages, which seemed to solve the problem. Now, however, the screen intermittently (once every hour or two) flashes black for a second and then all is normal again. I've also noticed display bugs with some websites, where the image loads and then gets scrambled (horizontal white lines, sort of).
It seems that this is related to the integrated Intel GPU. Any thoughts?
Specs:
IBM Thinkpad R51 (2888-Y1A)
Pentium M 1.7 Ghz
1 GB RAM (old)
Intel Extreme 2 integrated GPU (on 855gm chipset)
