Edit: I forgot to mention I'm looking to pick it up today, and have it narrowed down to these 2.

Lenovo G560 for 399.99 http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/289194/Lenovo-G560-0679-99U-Laptop-Computer/

or

MSI A6200-206US for 479.99 (in store price) http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/497949/MSI-A6200-206US-156-LED-Backlit/

thanks in advance.

If you can get the MSI for the price you stated it is a much faster processor. The Intel Core i3 is a pretty fast chip. I have the Core i3-330 and I really like it. Having the GPU on the CPU chip seems to be a pretty good answer to the video card/cpu/motherboard issue and it works well with all distros I have tried. Only thing I would recommend is try to make sure your wireless brand and model are well supported, and same for the sound.
