hi all,
i am planning to buy a toshiba satellite T235 ultraportable laptop.
i have a simple query - can someone confirm if ubuntu 10.04 (and other versions) work ok on this laptop?
its not such a mainstream laptop and which is why i am worried. ill be in sport, if ubuntu doesnt work properly when i buy it.
its has the U5400 CULV processor and does not have a DVD drive. wondering if this could create problems.
anyone?
thanks!

Don't do it. As in a related post: (http://http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=10776140#post10776140)

Although this [advice] has helped, the Satellite T235 is just too much trouble, IMO. It took all day to get it running, and connecting a separate monitor was an exercise in futility. My advice is to research your hardware well before buying.

My current laptop, a Dell Studio 15 (preloaded with Ubuntu) has required much less maintenance and usually works flawlessly, even with the Intel graphics (nVidia was an option).
