i was following forum instructions on remappin keys using xev and xmodmap. upon pressing enter for the xmodmap command, enter instantly turned to the pipe command. i found a command i could use to set it back to US for the time being (setxkbmap us) but... well... i cant press enter. is there a gui frontend i can do this from? cuz, the mouse totally still works. in fact, thats why im not making seperate paragraphs! WHAT DO I DO?!!?!?

haha!!! i remembered that if you hit alt-f2 you can enter commands to run and just click RUN. whew... that was a close one.

sooo... can someone tell me how to map my keyboard so pipe is pipe? as it stands right now, if i use the pipe key it gives me a greater than symbol. if i hit that key without shift (for a backslash) i get a less than symbol.

as far as im tracking, those are the only keys that arent mapped right.

can someone pls help?

***edit***

i figured how to remap pipe to the right key, but not for when i press shift. the keycode is 96 in xev whether im holding down shift or not. how do i map it for shift? then i can remap witout shift to be a backslash like its sposed to be.
