Hey everyone i just installed maverick and overall experience is just ok. I came across a couple of quirks and would like to compare notes with you guys.
1. Unable to add a facebook account in gwibber. seems like a bug that sleep through the testing. there is a work around here: http://goo.gl/hbsa
2. Empathy has some weird behavior that it does not immediately open a chat window when you double click on a contact. it takes a quite a few double clicks before it actually displays the chat window.
How about you guys? another feedback?

nothing much with Kubuntu since I'm using KDE 4.5 since August. I love the revamp KPackagekit and network management plasmoid.
And i find rekonq browser a great addition since I can't make webkit on konqueror work for me... badtrip.

Installation from a 2 Gb SD card was done without any need to manually define partitions on my
Asus EEE 1000 PC. Initially, I found the machine a bit sluggish, but now everything loads with reasonable speed.
I love Unity:!:
(If I reboot in Gnome safe mode, I get the standard desktop). I've always had an aversion to the previous netbook interface, since it made the machine look too much like a toy. ... and believe me this 10" Asus is viable as a serious machine!
:arrow:The only 'hiccup' I found so far was a problem playing back video files.8-[

Now running Ubuntu 10.10, tried once to hibernate my laptop but it didn't wake up. So I had to do a hard reset.
Haven't tried it again since then.

I have experienced the same problem on 10.10 installed on Virtual Box...
I can't install a full 10.10 system on my laptop now because I'm not yet done downloading movies...
I hope, it will be okey...If not, I will use other messenger like Pidgin...

Hi I have some issues with the Meerkat on my System
Wifi reception is weak unlike before, with Meerkat I have to move the laptop closer to the wifi router.
Changing Resolution in Monitor Preferences only 1280 x 800 can fill the screen/monitor. It is like when you set Background style to center not stretched, lower resolutions appear in the middle or center of monitor.
My system is Acer Aspire 4730z
Me na experience ba kayo na ganito?

Hi Friends,
I was able to read the Release Notes for some Known Issues with Maverick. Sharing with you: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MaverickMeerkat/TechnicalOverview#Known%20issues. One thing that irritates me right now is when you enable Desktop Effects, the top bar of the window (where the Minimize, Maximize, and Close Buttons are located) will disappear. Not sure if there's already a fix for it. Meanwhile, I installed Kubuntu on top of Ubuntu so I can play around with Desktop Effects.

Gwibber refuses to work with Facebook, even trying the workaround mentioned above. FWIW, this is the Netbook version of Meerkat... I can use Empathy to chat in FB, but rather than do that, the Chromium browser is my preferred utility, since it (Chrome) loads faster than Firefox
I notice this message is in the Phillipines section, hope I'm not using the wrong forum, since I'm in Canada.
[NOTE to MOD: Kindly move this post if I'm in the wrong forum, since I'm unable to delete it. Thanks]

Has anyone tried the multi touch capabilities of the Meerkat?

Overall, I love it. I find it a little more responsive when compared to 10.04. A couple of quirks though.
The brightness adjust applet does not work. When I unplug my laptop from the charger, it doesn't automatically dim the screen. It was working when I was still using 10.04. Also, when I adjust the brightness using the hardware keys, it does change, but I don't get the notification/status at the upper right-hand corner of the screen (like when you adjust the volume using your computer's hardware keys). I'm guessing it's a bug.
When I wake my laptop from sleep, automatic reconnection to my wireless network takes a couple more seconds. In Lucid Lynx, it automatically starts to reconnect after 2 or 3 seconds when logging back in. With Maverick, it takes like 5-7 seconds before it begins to reconnect. It's a little annoying.
Lastly, my bluetooth indicator applet disappears when logging back in from sleep. Yeah, seems like they have some stuff to sort out in the "waking from sleep" department. Haha.
But overall, I'm still happy with it. Haven't booted into Windows for almost a month now. Actually, now I think Windows is so archaic! :D Loving each day I spend using Ubuntu.
