Re:10.10

nice improvements in the install process!

Would love to see an option in the next edition

"I already have a boot loader" (don't install grub)

Let's face it. Most Linux users are advanced users. Right?

I think the point of Ubuntu is to engage the new users, not the advanced ones. To that end I believe the best solution to what you pose is system that auto-detects other OS'es/boot loaders and ask the user if they wish to install side by side or stand alone.

If I remember correctly (It been awhile since I've dual booted with Windows) they already ask you this on the partitioning screen.

It is no longer a windows world.

The options in operating systems are growing every day. The days of MBR are coming to a close.

I am hoping that debian is ahead of the curve and aware of the changing tide.

I believe the battle for the boot sector is redundant and ego based foolishness that only detracts from the appeal of Linux or windows systems.

There are much better, (open source), options available today.

and the "advanced" users you want to cater to should be able to utilize the myriad of options you describe.

Advanced users will use what the want and average users probably wouldn't understand the question. No need to confuse them.
