I'm a long-time Windows guy, about one week into ubuntu, and slowly picking up the language.

I have a new motherboard (ASUS M4A77D) and I need to install the audio driver in found in the DVD in the Linx section. There seemed to be a problem installing from a DVD, so I copied this folder (?) to a CD.

When I open the folder, I see an awesome array of files. But I have no idea how to proceed to install the driver. Can somebody provide directions. Where should I install it? What do I do first?

Linux is not like MS Windows, where the first thing you do after OS install is to stick in Driver CDs and load them. Linux distros typically find and install all the needed drivers as a side-effect of setup.

So, have you tried your audio and confirmed that it's NOT working?

Also, we would need a list of directories and files to tell you, in detail, what to do.
