I have an on-board Ethernet controller that is disabled, and I can't find out how to enable it. How do I enable the on-board controller?

Verify that it's enabled in the BIOS. What is the chipset?

+1

A friend had same problem a few weeks ago (and he was running Win 7) was just a matter of going into the BIOS to fix it

No, nothing in my bios changed because it used to work, and i haven't gone into my bios since then.

Umm, I don't know what I'm supposed to find there...

I'm not very tech-savvy so I don't understand most of the stuff on there.

thanks!

Apparently a lot of people have had problems with this device, the last post says that 8 hours ago a fix was released. Don't know how long it will take to get in the updates though.

I just tried that but, sadly it didn't work. I'm thinking that it got fried because the address for that device is cf:cf:cf:cf:cf which i don't think is right.

Thanks for all the help though

I had to reinstall because my hard drive crashed, and now my on-board Ethernet works! Thanks for all the suggestions!
