Or at least asking for a reason. I was told I was spamming, and I wondered if maybe I actually was, so I looked it up on Wikipedia:

Forum spam is the creating of messages that are advertisements (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advertisements), abusive, or otherwise unwanted on Internet forums (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_forum). It is generally done by automated spambots (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spambots).

My thread was clearly not advertisement nor was it abusive. It might be unwanted, but I'm thinking that's a bit shaky reasoning to call spam and close the thread. I was only pointing out a linguistic curiosity that I thought was rather amusing. (ie. that the word "Ironic" does in fact mean "coincidence" in some dictionaries). I accept that other people might not share my sense of humor, but I don't think that's grounds for closing a thread if it sticks to forum rules (which I think it does).

That thread is inappropriate, it is nothing more then a link and most people find such thread irritating. It is poor "Netiquette (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netiquette)" in that it is nothing more then an off site link and as I indicated most people find such posts inappropriate.

After reviewing your "thread", not only do I support it's closure, but I am going to move it to jail.

Please do not start such a thread in the future.

:( and I thought it would be an interesting start to a discussion on linguistics, but ok, I accept it. Won't do it again.

Thank you =)

As I said, we typically get a flurry of complaints when people start threads with nothing more then a link.

Please post some text (rather then a link) to start a conversation.
