I think the idea of having a graphical remote control thing for your desktop is awesome. However I would like it to look like a real app. Would it be feasible to make it a xul application?

Hmmm, that's an intresting idea, however you have to keep in mind that few browsers can read xul, actually the only one I know that can is Firefox. Based of my general use I use it to access my files on my home fileserver and I am either

A. In my bedroom on my Mac using Safari
or
B. At school on Windows using IE

So XUL is out, but the thought of making it look more like an actual app is a good idea. Right now I don't have plans to make it look like an app but in the future there will be a themeing system that would allow the use of a custom theme without any hacks or anything. When there is a theme engine I, or someone else, will make a theme to make Ubuntu Center look like a web application. With this next upcoming alpha release I have improved a few minor parts of the look like removing ugly black borders around certain menu and spacing things out more, although I am having trouble making it display correctly in Firefox and didn't really notice the problems until I looked at it in Firefox (I use Safari 99.9% of the time)

I hope this answered your question enough,

Well, I use firefox or other gecko browsers exclusively. I will look into this, and see if I've got the time to make it great.

Cool, keep in mind it is written in PHP and I have no clue how you could make XUL work with PHP.

I think XUL in general is a bad idea. I think the internet applications like this should stick to internet standard like html xml and javascript.
I think the best way to go is AJAX (sorry for the buzz word).
Google has prooven it's possible to build internet application that are rich and feel like real apps.

yeah AJAX is pretty sweet. You have to remember though that I don't code the projects in Ubuntu Center like Ampache and Torrentflux etc. so it would be up to them to write them in AJAX. Oh, our uploads script is written in AJAX partially

I'm not a web developer (yet) but is there a way in which I can make myself usefull for this project?
I'm going to test it but what are the main thing you need work on except coding?

I'll be honest there's not much people can really do to help besides looking for bugs that haven't already been reported at bounty source (https://ubuntucenter.bountysource.com/). I could always use more suggestions on programs etc. to add to ubuntu center and stuff.
