Hi Guys,

I've played around with ubuntu for a while now, i run a dual boot xp/lucid on my main pc and am going to be putting maverick on my laptop when it comes out. I am currently attempting to build a file server for media using 9.10 and I am following an excellent guide (http://havetheknowhow.com/Configure-the-server/Create-users-share-folders.html) however I am stuck on Samba, I can make the Server visible to windows and vice versa, but for the life of me I cannot make shares writable!
I want 3 Main folders (Music, Pictures and Documents) with the music and pictures accessible and writeable to everyone, without having to log in, and the Documents to be divided into separate folders for each individual in the household, I only want the user and myself to have access to those.
Can anyone help please?
Many Thanks,
Tom :)

the guide you refer to explains how to create users, and how to make shares writeable to selected users.

what's your problem then ?
