View Full Version : [ubuntu] installing with a corrupted os

My laptop that ran on xp got trojaned, so i can't seem to install ubuntu because i can't partition the hard drive, does anyone have any suggestions, or am I basically screwed?

Boot off of the UBUNTU CD and (you say you cannot format the drive) , ..... post a screenshot of what you see in gparted first ........... if you need help sorting it out ....

Testdisk will probably sort it out .... if gparted is not allowing you to do it .......

Unless there is a fault with the hard disk and it is dying .......

A clean formated drive and stick UBUNTU on is probably the solution ........ as long as there are no other partitions

If you need .......... to get DATA off of it .... we may need to try to create a separate partition ..... but we need to see some information on how it is strutured first.

You may be able to recover some of your data if your drive is ok .... thats if you need it ........
