My son downloaded the AMD version of Ubuntu for me and I am going to pick it up tomorrow and install it on an AMD Duron machine. Am I going in the right direction? Newbie here! Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,

The AMD 64 is the new 64 bit processor from AMD for a Duron which is based on the Athlon a 32 bit architecture like the Intel Pentium you will need the i386 iso.

Thank you for this, saved me a bit of frustration. (Spent three weeks in Melbourne earlier this year. Had a great time. :D )

OT doesn't it suck to download 600MB just to burn a CD that says "You need a 64-bit processor to run this. Please use a 32-bit distribution"?
