Dual clock issue

I looked around a bit to see if this had been addressed but I didn't see it.

Every once in a while when I log in I get a bug where I have an additional clock which hides my shutdown button. A screen shot of the issue is below. This has happened on my laptop as well.

Anyone know a fix?

your panel configuration might be broken. easiest way to fix this is to

create a new panel (right-click -> new Panel)
move your applets there
remove the old panel
