I recently did a fresh install of the 10.4 and it picked up all the hardware just fine.I only had to configure my USB WiFi manually. Yesterday, by accident I tripped the power cord on the system and now I am unable to get into the X System. The system is configured to auto login so I don't know if it got past the login or not. I only see a grey screen with a X for a mouse pointer. I would love to restore this system as I went through some effort in customizing my first Ubuntu system and hence will consider a fresh install reluctantly.
Please help me in restoring this. Let me know the things I need to look into (logs, config files) and their location.
