YEY! I thought it wouldnt work with usb-modeswitch coz i installed it the first time and it wouldnt connect, reboot and still wont, until after 3 reboots (in between, i installed and tried WvDial too but unfortunately still wouldnt work), then it WORKED (with the builtin Network Connections manager)!

So for everyone whose still confused, just dont lose hope haha

Conclusion: usb modem integration is still buggy for ubuntu 10, for example, my smart bro usb modem with smart sim worked with the Globe connection profile, haha.. anyway, the good thing is that its now working for me..

(next problem is nokia pc suite for ubuntu and sms manager for my usb modem, any suggestions?)

as an alternative for PC Suite you could try installing Wammu this is what I used for my Nokia Cellphones and I connect it using Bluetooth.

just install usb-modeswitch then reboot your machine, when the desktop is back up and ready, put your usb modem into place (just insert it to your fave usb port) and it will just miraculously be detected on System > Preferences > Network Connections > Mobile Broadband > Add... :)

PC Suite = VM
sms Manager dunno

as much as possible i dont wanna use vm, it might beefup my system

I think the exact opposite.

we get our own POVs :)

usb-modeswitch + wammu = happy ^_^

Working with unlocked smartbro, can also send/receive sms message using wammu.

Try ko pa sa Globe Tattoo E1552 (Redbox Firmware) if mag work ang voice feature

I was lucky Globe USB stick worked right away for my ubuntu. I was quite hesitant to use ubuntu at first because I thought it would give me a hassle but it didn't. I was happy to have ubuntu in my laptop. :)

I'm also quite surprised that WeRoam works flawlessly with Ubuntu. At first, I didn't expect much, but Ubuntu's built-in network profiles did not disappoint. I was up and running faster that I was when I try connecting in Windows. :D

10.10 supports most modem I am not sure if kasama yung wm660a ng smart but hauwei and zte works out of the box. Voice features? Nah I don't use it so I have not tested.

Ya, WM66A not yet supported. But it have a workaround script.
aljoriz,

do you know what specific model for huawei or zte model works?
I'm planning to buy Sun or Globe USB Broadband. Because I just bought Smart and their model is WM66A.

Globe uses HUAWEI e155X series so they work out of the box. Sun uses the same though I have not personally unlocked the SUN as I didn't bother buying it.

Smartbro?
Get ZTE the orange/black dongle or even the UAAP models (if you can find them) works great.
