I has an LifeCam VX1000 that works with Ubuntu 10.04, but I some questions about webcams in general.

1. My camera is doing much by automatic such as exposure, whitebalance, this does not work well, so I want to know if it possible to turn of the automatically functions so I can set exposure and whitebalance manually.

2. This cam does not work under Zoneminder so I can not use that program for motion detection, but I saw that VLC had motion detection and that VLC did work perfect with VX1000. But how do I use VLC to take snapshots when it detects movements?

3. I just find Cheese XawTV for the WebCam and Zoneminder does not work with VX1000, VLC is not a webcam program, so can someone recommend other (easy to use) webcam programs with functions like motion detection and a function to take pictures in intervals, but that not has silly functions as cartoon, outline and so on?

P.S Sorry for the bad spelling.
