View Full Version : [gnome] Gnome no reaction to inputs

September 5th, 2010, 01:38 PM

I'm running the netbook edition of ubuntu 10.4
Sometimes when using an extern TFT I use the normal Gnome Desktop.

In both cases the Desktop somehow freezes. I can move the mouse, but the Desktop doesn't respond to anything. It is also possible to switch to the console by pressing strg+alt+F1. After that I usually restart the gdm which then work again, with some other issues i.e. the sound is turned off and can't be turned on again till reboot, sometimes the same with the brightness of the display (which then is at lowest state).

I'm using a acer 1825PTZ with touchscreen, I also have the compiz installed and running, it might be one of the effects that causing the errors. (Expo, Scale all windows on the screen, and wabbeling windows)

My first question is how to determine what exactly causing the problem ?
And of course how to fix it =)

I tried to find the source of the problems with the "top" and "ps -ef" commands non of which showed something unusual ...

I'm happy for help

No help at all ?
