Hi everyone!

Until couple of hours ago, I was able to be connected to the internet using the ethernet cable. It all went wrong right after I typed the following:

sudo dpkg --configure -a

("thanks" to a package that didn't complete the installation process)

Since then, I can't use a wired connection (The cable works fine when connecting it to a different PC).

How can I fix that?

Thanks a lot!

What does the network manager applet show? If it's showing 'Networking Disabled', right click on the applet and make sure that 'Enable Networking' is ticked.

The Enable Networking Option is ticked

You should probably edit your thread title. "problem with ethernet cable" implies it's a problem with the physical cable, which it's not.

Have you restarted since the failed install ??
What package failed ??
Did any packages succeed ??

@donlad:
I'm gonna edit the title - let me know if it's not to your liking.

In the meantime, a couple more threads to check:
