Just trying to find out which brand and model you use that you are not having problems with.

I am using master and slave Sony RW AW-Q170A and Toshiba SD5I12 IDE drives that won't burn or error. They are both older about 5 years.
They are in my new built computer from last year that supports SATA Drives. So I figure moving up to SATA and known drives to work with Ubuntu 9.04, K3b is the way to go. :D

Got rid of IDE DVD burners and purchased a new SATA ASUS DRW-24B1ST Burner

Burns, DVD's no problem now!
Finally after a year.
Should have bought SATA's when I built my computer. Instead of relying on posts and reviews of the SATA Burners that said there was no benefit at the time to switch over.
