Hello everyone.
I just made a full switch to Ubuntu for my desktop a month ago.

I'm using 9.04 with Skype 2.1

And now I'm planning to buy a webcam w/ mic (USB)

budget allocation: to spend not more than 700 pesos

What I need:
-webcam with mic that works on Skype for Ubuntu 9.04 out of the box (or with little trouble)
Use: Video with voice chat (on Skype)

I've browsed through some products at PC Express for some webcams that meet my price category:

Genius islim/ i look 300 (http://www.pcx.com.ph/index.php/peripherals/web-camera/genius-islim-300-w-mic.html)
a4tech pk-635 (http://www.pcx.com.ph/index.php/peripherals/web-camera/a4-tech-pk-635m-k-w-mic.html)
a4tech pk-732k-760mb (http://www.pcx.com.ph/index.php/peripherals/web-camera/a4-tech-pk-732k-760mb-w-mic.html)
a4-tech-pk-333e-nightvision (http://www.pcx.com.ph/index.php/peripherals/web-camera/a4-tech-pk-333e-nightvision-w-mic.html)
a4-tech-pk-835 (http://www.pcx.com.ph/index.php/peripherals/web-camera/a4-tech-pk-835.html)
intex-night-flick-it-309-310wc-w-mic (http://www.pcx.com.ph/index.php/peripherals/web-camera/intex-night-flick-it-309-310wc-w-mic.html)

Can I ask a recommendation on what webcam to get?
It does not have to be on the list above. (as long as it's being sold in the Philippines)
-Masmabuti if it's something you've experienced using.

I'll be purchasing by next week.

Safest bet? Buy a separate headset and webcam. I used to have one of those Genius webcams-- that round thingie that you can clip to the side of your table-- and it worked fine (until it became a submarine). :D

LOL! oh yeah I remember. :D

as for webcams, Logitech too seems to have good support with linux in general.

Thank you for the suggestion guys. :)

I followed Script Warlock's suggestion and got myself a a4tech-pk635m

It's plug and play and video works prefectly on Skype and Cheese.
Audio is captured in Sound Recorder. The problem is... it does not on Skype.

Anyone have any idea how to make Skype 2.1.0.81 take the input of the built in mic?
